Citadel Compatibility: Minecraft Version and Mod Loader

Compatibility has more than one dimension. A file can match your Minecraft version while targeting a different loader, or match the loader while falling outside another mod required dependency range.
Check three pieces of information
Compare the exact Minecraft version, the loader named on the download, and the Citadel version required by your content mod. Similar looking version numbers are not enough. Keep these details in a small setup note so that a later update does not silently mix incompatible components.
Read the individual release page
Project pages can list several loaders and game versions across their full history. That does not mean every uploaded file supports every combination. Open the details for the specific release you intend to use. If the desired combination is absent, look for a supported combination rather than renaming a file or assuming another loader can read it.
Handle an unsupported setup
Check whether the content mod offers a release for your intended platform. Sometimes the practical choice is a separate launcher instance with versions that are supported together. Preserve your existing world and installation while evaluating alternatives. Never treat a community port as identical to its upstream project without checking its documentation, maintenance, and stated compatibility.
